How To Get Rid of Lines In Concrete From Pressure Washing

...

What’s up, everybody! My name is Justin from Forever Self-Employed. In today’s video, we’re addressing a common issue in the pressure washing business: those pesky lines left on concrete after cleaning. This was a major challenge for me when I started because I wanted to deliver impeccable results for my customers. Despite my efforts, the concrete would often dry with visible lines from the surface cleaner, showing my exact cleaning path. Today, I'll share two solutions to eliminate these lines—one involving chemicals and one that doesn't.

Solving the Concrete Lines Dilemma

Chemical Method

The first method uses sodium hypochlorite to treat the concrete after cleaning. Here’s the step-by-step process:

  1. Apply Sodium Hypochlorite: Treat the cleaned concrete with sodium hypochlorite. This kills any remaining growth and ensures the concrete dries without lines.
  2. Let It Dry: Do not rinse off the chemical. Let it dry completely, which will result in a bright, clean finish without lines.

Application Methods:

  • Downstreamer
  • X-Jet
  • Soft Wash System (recommended for ease)

Tips:

  • Protect Vegetation: Ensure surrounding plants are well-watered to prevent chemical damage.
  • Avoid Runoff: Apply just enough chemical to coat the concrete without causing runoff, which wastes bleach.

No Chemical Method

If you prefer not to use chemicals, try this alternate method:

  1. Opposite Direction Cleaning: After your initial pass, go over the concrete again in the opposite direction. If your first pass was vertical, the second should be horizontal.
  2. Sectional Rinsing: Clean in sections and rinse before the concrete dries to avoid lines.

While this method is more time-consuming, it’s effective and chemical-free.

Summary

We’ve covered two methods to eliminate lines on concrete after pressure washing:

  1. Chemical Method: Use sodium hypochlorite, let it dry, and protect surrounding vegetation.
  2. No Chemical Method: Clean in the opposite direction and rinse in sections.

Both methods will help you deliver excellent results and keep your customers satisfied.
