Embracing Failure: A Key to Success

Michael Jordan once said, "I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed."

This resonates deeply with anyone wanting to start a business. Imagine being the greatest basketball player of all time and still missing 9,000 shots. Failure isn't final, and it certainly isn't fatal. It's something we have to embrace.

The Fear of Starting

When I started my pressure washing business in 2016, I couldn't afford to wait. I was in the middle of a contentious divorce and fighting for time with my son. I had no choice but to start immediately. Many people want to wait for the "perfect" time—next season, springtime, or after more research. This is often just fear of failure.

Prolonging your start due to fear is a common human reaction, but it's detrimental to your success. When I began, I had to come out swinging. I started by knocking on doors, selling window cleaning deals with a squeegee and bucket from Home Depot. I had to make it happen.

Taking Daily Steps Towards Success

If you want to reproduce my success, you need to take daily steps and bet on yourself. Watching YouTube videos and absorbing content is great, but it means nothing if you don't take action. You need to approach your neighbors, talk to your family, and sell deals. Even if you're in a tough situation, now is the time to start.

Building Momentum

Getting momentum is the hardest part, but once you push through and start making money, it becomes a seamless part of your day. A year from now, your marketing will be on point, and making money will be second nature. Right now, bet on yourself and get started. Waiting until next year or next spring is the biggest mistake you can make.

My Story: Turning Adversity Into Success

In 2016, I spent a few weeks sleeping in my van at a 24-hour gym. Even then, I vowed to make it a great story. You can either spiral up with adversity and break through it or spiral down into negativity. I chose to push through and make it happen.

Challenge Yourself

I challenge you to comment below and bet on yourself. Start your business now. Go sell one deal tomorrow. Whether it's your family, church, or grandma, get paid and build momentum. With each success, the failures will diminish.
